Pushcam, Robocam deployed to track pipeline issues in Nagpur

Nagpur: In a major technological boost to its water supply system, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Orange City Water Pvt Ltd (OCW) have begun deploying high-tech pipeline inspection tools — Pushcam and Robocam — to detect internal faults, obstructions, and illegal connections in the city’s vast underground water network. These devices, including the Endo 90 Robocam, Small Pushcam, and Big Pushcam, are capable of scanning pipelines ranging from 90mm to 250mm in diameter. They are equipped with high-resolution sensors and navigation capabilities that allow them to inspect even the most inaccessible sections of pipelines laid beneath busy city roads. This technology enables engineers to detect accumulated debris, rust, cracks, silt deposits, and leak points without any need for large-scale excavation.Low water pressure and contamination complaints from residents are now being addressed more swiftly. Instead of relying on trial-and-error digging or lengthy surveys, these cameras provide live visual feedback from within the pipes, pinpointing the exact location of obstructions or leakages. This not only ensures quicker rectification but also minimises disruption to road traffic and residents.Officials say the initiative is already showing results.
