Supporting Critical Fire Hydrant Commissioning Readiness

Mangalore

PROJECT OVERVIEW

An internal inspection was required for fire-hydrant pipelines at an uncommissioned refinery facility in Mangalore. The project focused on identifying causes of pressure drops and water losses affecting network performance, flow reliability and commissioning readiness.

TECHNOLOGY USED

EndoCam (360° Camera) with DVR and Endobot for Visual InspectionAcoustic inspection for pinpoint identification of leakage pointsAI Powered Defect Detection and classification for reporting

PROJECT EXECUTION

The network showed irregular flow and suspected leakage/obstruction points that could affect fire-safety readiness before plant commissioning. Solinas first assessed the fire-hydrant pipeline sections to understand pressure-loss behaviour and identify locations where visual inspection or acoustic confirmation was required. Internal visual inspection was carried out using EndoCam/Endobot systems to examine pipeline condition, identify obstructions, cracks, defects and foreign material inside the line. Acoustic leak assessment was then used to confirm suspected leakage sources and narrow down contributors to pressure drops. The inspection captured live internal visuals, documented defects and localized pressure-drop contributors so the client could plan targeted corrective action before commissioning.

FINDINGS & IMPACT

The inspection identified sand, stones and hard-silt accumulation causing flow obstruction, along with cracks, leakage points, delamination, dents and foreign objects in the fire-hydrant pipeline network. Acoustic assessment helped reconfirm suspected leakage points and locate contributors to pressure drops. The project helped the refinery understand the root causes of water loss and prepare corrective actions to improve fire-hydrant network reliability before commissioning.
